Who am I and why should you read my blog?
I’m just a girl who experiments a lot. I like to get out into the world and try out new things. Sometimes that leads to bad experiences, and sometimes it leads to self growth or new project ideas – like this one. Feel free to join me on this journey, if you want to. If you like some of the things I say, great. If not, that’s fine too.
My name is Jessica Bong. I’m 23 years old. I grew up in Singapore, went to school and graduated with a Diploma in Business. While finishing my education I failed and succeeded with some business projects. I didn’t know what to do next with my life. A few months later, I packed my bag and flew to Hungary to volunteer on an AIESEC program. That turned into a 1 year backpacking trip across Europe and Africa.
Now I live in Germany and pursue a degree in Management and Technology in the Technical University of Munich. Because of COVID, I chose to be closer to family and am now pursuing a Finance degree in the National University of Singapore.
Why did you start this site?
When I first started travelling I started amassing a wealth of experience that were left untold. No, they weren’t of ‘top 10 places to visit in Rome’ nor ‘how to pack for a 3 months trip’ (trust me, you don’t want advice on those from me).
My experience were gained towards learning from dumbass mistakes such as accepting a stranger’s tea invitation in Morocco, or braving myself unprepared through Winter for the first time in my life. Through my own choices and experience I have evolved from a naive, well-sheltered girl to one who sympathises and connects with people.
While travelling I also dealt with the ups and downs of life, from successfully living the digital nomad lifestyle to dealing with depression.
In the past, I would write to my buddy Tony. He was a pillar of support during my darkest days. Realising that writing is a good way for me to document growth, I continued writing for my present and future.
